At Raceview Dental, our dentists see many patients from all over Ipswich, Qld for many issues but one of the most common problems is tooth sensitivity. In fact, studies have found that up to 90% of people experience some form of tooth sensitivity at some point in their life.

There are many causes of tooth sensitivity ranging from decay, a fractured tooth or filling, acid wear, grinding, exposed tooth roots caused by aggressive brushing, gum recession, periodontal disease, and other more rare causes. What all of these have in common is that the sensitivity is caused by an exposure of the sensitive second layer of the tooth called dentine. Also, if nothing is done about it, while the sensitivity may come and go, it will eventually get much worse.

While all types of tooth sensitivity may initially feel the same, depending on the cause they all require different forms of treatment. If the specific underlying problem is not diagnosed and treated properly it can lead in many cases to the pain getting worse and developing into a severe toothache.

At Raceview Dental it is our job to assess and diagnose the cause of all types of tooth sensitivity and administer the appropriate treatment to prevent a sensitive tooth turning into a tooth which requires extraction or root canal treatment. The dentists at Raceview Dental, Ipswich can do this through a combination of understanding the exact symptoms of a tooth or teeth and correlating that with clinical and in some cases radiological findings.

So if you are or have ever suffered from tooth sensitivity and have done nothing about it, give us a call and get an assessment by one of the friendly dentists because at Raceview Dental we believe prevention and early detection is always the best form of treatment.
